Sworn translation French-Italian and Italian-French
French reaches Italy by many routes: civil status records from France, Belgium or Switzerland, Moroccan, Tunisian, Algerian or Senegalese documents written in French, diplomas from Quebec. And many Italian documents leave for Paris, Brussels or Geneva. Sworn translation between French and Italian costs 25 € per page, VAT included, in both directions, with the signed and stamped PDF in 24 to 48 working hours.

The documents most often required by Italian procedures are the acte de naissance (full copy or extract, depending on what the office asks for), the acte de mariage, the livret de famille, the casier judiciaire, which in France is usually requested as bulletin n° 3, diplomas and relevés de notes for university, and the permis de conduire.
For a public document from France, Belgium or Luxembourg, Regulation (EU) 2016/1191 removes the apostille and provides, for civil status records, a multilingual standard form that can sometimes avoid translation altogether: ask the authority that issues the record. Between Italy and France the 1987 Brussels Convention abolishing legalisation also applies. Non-EU countries need a Hague apostille, which Morocco for instance issues, or legalisation at the Italian embassy or consulate for countries outside the Convention. The legal framework in Italy remains article 33 of Presidential Decree 445/2000.
From Italian into French
Birth certificates for a wedding in France, diplomas and transcripts for enrolment in Belgium or Switzerland, payslips and contracts for a job transfer: translation from Italian into French is ordered the same way. For a civil status record going to another EU country, first ask your Comune for the multilingual standard form: it may be enough on its own. If the foreign authority asks for an asseverazione before an Italian court, we arrange it on quote.

Frequently asked questions
My record is bilingual Arabic and French: what do you translate?
We translate into Italian the text the office needs to read. If the record is bilingual, say so in the order note: we confirm pages and total before we start.
Does a French record with a multilingual form need translating?
Often not: the multilingual standard form exists precisely to avoid it. Check with the Italian office that receives it before you order.
Who signs the translation?
For French, the translator is sworn at the Court of Appeal of Douai (France) and the Superior Court of Justice of Luxembourg, is listed in the national register of the FPS Justice in Belgium, is accredited with the Italian embassies and consulates in France, Belgium and Luxembourg, and is a member of the Associazione Esperti Tecnici Giudiziari in Milan. She signs, stamps and declares the translation faithful to the document received, and her translations are accepted in Italy: from France, Belgium and Luxembourg into Italy and from Italy into these three countries. The translation is delivered as a PDF with a digital signature recognised in the 27 EU countries.
For civil status records, also read the guide to registering a foreign record in Italy and the one on apostille and sworn translation. Other languages are on the sworn translation by language page. Choose your document and order.
