From Romanian into Italian

The documents Romanian and Moldovan families most often submit to Italian offices are the birth certificate (certificat de naștere), the marriage certificate (certificat de căsătorie), the divorce judgment, the criminal record (cazier judiciar), academic qualifications and adeverințe, that is employment or income statements. Names with diacritics (ă, â, î, ș, ț) are reproduced exactly as on the document.

Romania is in the European Union: for its public documents Regulation (EU) 2016/1191 removes the apostille and provides a multilingual standard form for civil status, which can sometimes avoid translation too. Ask the office that issues the record. Moldova is a party to the Hague Convention: the apostille goes on the original and is translated with the record. In Italy the reference is article 33 of Presidential Decree 445/2000.

One thing to know about driving licences: a Romanian licence is a European Union licence and does not need converting in Italy. Before ordering a translation of the driving licence, check that it is really required.

From Italian into Romanian
